Jim Caldwell’s diary from HMS Warspite (1939-1941)

Abstract

This post presents the second extract from the memoirs of Jim Caldwell (1921-2014) who served in the navy between 1937-1952. The first extract explored Jim’s experience of using liquid plastic to mothball ships at the end of the Second World War. This episode looks at an earlier stage in his career and his memories of the very earliest stages of the war, as experienced on board HMS Warspite.
